Chengdu Normal University

Chengdu Normal University, the former Sichuan College of Education founded in 1955, was officially approved by the Ministry of Education of China in March 2012. The university is a full-time institute of normal education, offering various undergraduate courses. The university has a total of 17 departments and schools: School of Teacher Education, School of Education, School of Psychology, School of Physics and Engineering Technology, School of Chemical and Life Science, School of Economics and Management, School of Fine Arts, School of Chinese Language and Literature, School of History, Geography and Tourism, School of Marxism, School of Foreign Languages, School of Mathematics, School of Computer Science, School of Music, School of Physical Education, Research Center of Fundamental Education, and School of International Education.

There are 15,000 full-time students on campus. Attached to the university are a middle school and a kindergarten. Over 200 kindergartens, primary and secondary schools are available as the regular sites for students to practice teaching. On and off campus, the university has set up more than 100 training and practicing bases for various disciplines, including mechanical engineering, architecture, logistics, automobile, tourism, and animation.

The university has established long-term collaborations with education institutes in many foreign countries, such as America, Japan, UK, Israel and Malaysia, and has a number of foreign professors and experts stationed on campus.

The university has traditionally been a teacher training school. With the strength in teacher training, the university currently provides teacher education courses aimed at the whole curriculum of fundamental education. A large percentage of teachers in Sichuan province graduated from Chengdu Normal University. Besides the students from School of Teachers’ Education, many students from other majors have benefited from our education and made a successful career in Sichuan Province.

Looking into the future, under the guideline of the National Education Reform, the university will turn over a new leaf in its growth.

Promote international exchanges and cooperation, and initial results have been shown in foreign education. Chengdu Normal University actively expands international exchanges and cooperation channels, expands cooperation areas and scopes, and improves cooperation levels. It has successively developed with universities (institutions) in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Czech Republic, Italy, South Korea, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Taiwan, etc. Exchanges and cooperation have accumulated more than 300 international students. Through various forms such as international student education, overseas study, cooperative school running, international exchange students, and overseas paid internships, new steps have been taken in the internationalization of education and international exchanges and cooperation, and it has created a precedent for the training of international students in the school. Currently, there are 124 international students coming to China from the school. In the past three years, a total of more than 140 undergraduates have participated in inter-school exchanges, joint training, dual-degree programs and other overseas (border) study and exchange activities.
