Guangzhou Huashang College (formerly Guangdong University of Finance and Economics Huashang College), founded in 2005, was renamed Guangzhou Huashang College with the approval of the Ministry of Education in 2020. The school is a full-time applied undergraduate institution with a strong financial education focus and a coordinated development of multiple disciplines. It covers economics, management, literature, engineering, art, education, science, and medicine. The school has two campuses, located in the scenic "Litchi Capital" of Guangzhou, Zengcheng District, and the "China Jade Capital" of Zhaoqing, Sihui District. The campus covers an area of 878,600 square meters, with nearly 28,000 students. The school is based in Guangdong, facing Hong Kong and Macao, and extending to the whole country. It aims to become a well-known domestic and first-class private university. It is committed to providing talent support and intellectual backing for the high-quality development of the regional economy and society.

The discipline and professional fields have distinct characteristics. The school has always emphasized the construction of disciplinary content, continuously optimized the disciplinary layout, strengthened resource allocation, and promoted collaborative innovation in industry-university-research. Currently, the school has 17 secondary colleges, 55 undergraduate programs, and gradually formed a disciplinary and professional system that integrates multiple disciplines, with a focus on economics, management, literature, and supports from engineering, education, art, and medicine. Through continuous promotion of interdisciplinary and integration, it continuously cultivates emerging disciplines and urgently needed fields, constantly enhancing the alignment and service capacity of discipline construction with economic and social development. There are 1 national first-class discipline construction points (Accounting), 6 provincial first-class discipline construction points (Accounting, Audit, Finance Management, Journalism, Advertising, Information Management and Information System), 2 provincial key disciplines (Accounting, Journalism), 16 provincial first-class courses, and 12 provincial course ideological and political demonstration projects.

The teaching staff provide strong support. In recent years, the school has adopted innovative recruitment methods, created a brand for recruitment, and optimized the recruitment layout to accurately implement the "Strong School with Talents" strategy, continuously strengthening the strength of the teaching staff. In November 2019, Nobel Prize winner in Chemistry, French chemist Jean-Marie Lehn, was appointed as honorary president. World-renowned chemist and Chinese Academy of Sciences academician Chen Xinzi was appointed as the chief scientist of the school. Some renowned professors from overseas and at home serve as academic advisors and visiting professors, and a number of industry elites and "dual-qualified" teachers serve as student entrepreneurship and innovation mentors. The teaching staff mainly come from domestic "985" and "211" universities. Currently, 27.85% of the teachers have a senior professional title or above, and 92.58% have a master's or doctoral degree. There are 2 provincial teaching teams, 1 provincial course ideological and political demonstration team, and 8 South China outstanding teachers.

Research and teaching achievements are remarkable. The school actively responds to national strategic needs, closely focuses on serving local economic and social development, continuously optimizes the disciplinary layout and research resource allocation, and vigorously promotes applied research and innovative research platform construction. The school has 14 provincial and university-level research institutes (institutes), 4 research centers, 1 laboratory, and 2 research bases. In the past three years, the school has received 3 national social science foundation projects, 60 provincial and ministerial-level research projects, 144 patents and software copyrights; 3 provincial research innovation teams have been approved. In 2022, the school was approved to establish a provincial doctoral workstation, marking an important breakthrough in the construction of high-level research platforms. In 2024, it won the second prize of the 10th Guangdong Province Philosophy and Social Sciences Outstanding Achievement Award, becoming one of the only two private universities in Guangdong to receive such an award. In 2025, it received the 9th National Higher Education Scientific Research Outstanding Achievement Award (collective achievement). In 2024, in the first "China National Knowledge Infrastructure Highly Cited Scholars" selection, 6 teachers from the school were selected, ranking first among private universities in Guangdong. In June of the same year, in the report released by the national third-party university evaluation agency Shenzheng Evaluation (SZPI), the school ranked 3rd in the national evaluation of the added value of research competitiveness among private undergraduate institutions and 1st in Guangdong Province. Its overall ranking of research competitiveness ranked 14th nationwide and 2nd in Guangdong Province, and its research strength and academic influence significantly improved.

Industrial-education integration promotes effectiveness. The school continuously deepens industrial-education integration, driving educational innovation with digital intelligence empowerment, and building a diversified, collaborative, and open-sharing industrial-education integration ecosystem. The school relies on secondary colleges and industry colleges, and collaborates deeply with leading enterprises such as Huawei, Baidu, and JD, establishing 11 industry colleges and 22 industry-integration characteristic classes. It continuously promotes "bringing enterprises into education", jointly building 31 project courses with companies like Taohuayu Island, Zhongyi Digital, and Zhongshou Mobile, and actively integrating course project-based construction for 55 comprehensive practical courses. It has also established 35 workshops. In addition, the school has set up a number of studios such as AI creativity and intangible cultural heritage creative design, promoting the dual improvement of students' innovation ability and professional quality through practical teaching, and comprehensively enhancing the alignment of talent cultivation with social needs. The practical teaching phase is configured reasonably, allowing students to master essential, complete, and systematic skills and technologies in practical teaching, and the School of Internet + Accounting has been established as an integrated reform experimental zone for teaching. The School of Economics and Management has cross-disciplinary comprehensive simulation practice, cloud computing, cloud desktop platforms, and large-scale communication experimental teaching platforms. Among them, the cross-disciplinary comprehensive simulation platform has been included in the provincial quality engineering experimental teaching demonstration center project by the Guangdong Education Department.

International perspective nurtures talents. The school attaches great importance to the internationalization of education and teaching, adhering to the policy of "localization of international education and internationalization of local education". The school actively develops international characteristic integrated courses and builds a three-in-one teaching model of "classroom learning - cultural experience - academic discussion"; it regularly invites overseas teachers to hold lectures and training sessions to achieve international complementarity of teaching resources and faculty teams. Leveraging its geographical advantages, since 2023, the school has launched brand study tours such as "Discovering the Beauty of Hong Kong", and has organized 14,000 teachers and students to conduct exchanges and studies abroad.
